Norman Quentin Cooke is a record producer, a member of a band called the Housemartins, he is however, most well known as Fatboy Slim, a DJ, and an composer of electronic dance music. Fatboy Slim had a number of hits, both in the UK and around the world during the 1990s. His most well-known songs include Weapon of Choice and The Rockafeller Skank.
By the time Cooke decided to use the name Fatboy Slim, he was already an accomplished musician and veteran of a number of bands with a number of chart-toppers to his name. His first album using the Fatboy Slim name was Better Living Through Chemistry which featured the UK hit, Everyone Needs a 303. The song was also featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 movie, Lost in Space.
Fatboy Slim’s next album was You’ve come a Long Way, Baby, released in 1998 and which contained the hit Rockafeller Skank, which is possibly his most well-known song.
The next album was Halfway Between the Gutter and the Stars and it was released in 2000. It featured another well-known song Weapon of Choice. While the song was fairly popular it was better known because of the video featuring actor and dancer Christopher Walken.
In 2006 Fatboy Slim released his album of greatest hits titled Why Try Harder.
Fatboy Slim’s next project was The Brighton Port Authority, a collaborative effort with producer Simon Thornton. The BPA featured performances by a number of artists including David Byrne and Iggy Pop.
