Steve Aoki is the founder of Dim Mak records and the son of the wrestler Hiroaki “Rocky” Aoki, the founder of the Benihana chain of Japanese restaurants. Rocky Aoki was a musician prior to opting for athletics as his career. Steve Aoki is also one of the more popular and respected young record producers in the business today. Aoki, who also goes by the nickname Kid Millionaire has worked with Blake Miller, with whom he formed the duo Weird Science, as well as producer Datsik.
Aoki’s reputation and work is most popular with college students who have helped him sell out shows at several college campuses around the country. Aoki has remixed songs by many of today’s most popular artists including Kid Cudi, Lil Wayne, Drake, and The All-American Rejects. His remixing skills can be heard on the following songs:

Aoki released his first mix album, titled Pillowface and his Airplane Chronicles, in 2008. His latest album, Wonderland, is his first studio album. Aoki has said that the album represents who he is and has been touring relentlessly in support of it. The tour covers 45 North American cities in 58 days but the 34 year-old women's studies graduate is famous for surviving on little sleep.
Aoki has said that he owes his fairly recent success,to the fact that people have options in the ways that they can find new music. His music and that of other artists in his genre, like Skrillex are seen as an alternative to that played on radio.
