Electric Daisy Carnival Snags Swedish House Mafia

Summer festival season is in full-swing with Coachella, SXSW and Ultra already come and gone. House music has played a larger role at at SXSW and Coachella this year than ever before, with DJs playing full sets and showing that the EDM movement is here to stay in the U.S.

There are still plenty of festivals left for music fans, with Electronic Music Festival in Detroit and Electric Forest in Rothbury, Mich. Of course who could forget the Electric Daisy Carnival, one of the largest electronic dance music festivals in the world.

It has recently been announced that Swedish House Mafia will be headlining the event this year. The trio leaked the news through a video that they posted on YouTube that when decoded read "SHM (… / …. / –) EDC(. / -.. / .. ) VEGAS JUNE (.— / ..- / -. / . ) 26(..— / -….)." There has not been any other announcements regarding other acts to play at the rave but past years have hosted Deadmau5, Kaskade and Armin Van Buuren, so the line-up will more likely boast big names and big beats.

The flagship event is moving this year from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. A tragic incident occured at the 2010 festival and caused the event to move outside of L.A.'s city limits and into the desert. There will also be new restrictions put in place to ensure that there is a not a repeat of last year's events. A 16-year-old girl died as a result of ecstacy use and there were a number of hospitalizations from a crowd stampede.

Electric Daisy is all set to take place on the weekend of June 24-26, debuting a new three-day format. For more information about the festival, check out the Insomniac website
