Electronic dance music from Europe has become a trend in the US and the result has been a booming live concert scene generating tens of millions of dollars for the performers. The audience is mainly teenagers and young adults in their early to mid twenties. Tiesto, who is in his mid-forties, has his own private jet and a number of houses around the world as a result of the recent trendiness of his genre.
Tiesto's career began with In My Memory, the solo album from 2001 that garnered him a following and that featured several hits. He was considered one of the more popular DJs of the early 2000s. Since then he has released three more studio albums, Just Be, Elements of Life and Kaleidoscope. After In My Memory, he would go on to become the first DJ to play live at an Olympic opening ceremony and would also be nominated for a Grammy Award in 2008. It is thought that Tiesto may DJ at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. A lifelong soccer fan, Tiesto believes that the opportunity will be a bigger one for him than the Olympics.
